If you want the lead-in on this, please refer to my previous post - http://members.lycos.co.uk/zephyr106/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1282&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
Seems the Nvidia Detonator drivers do not fully support DirectX hardware acceleration under Window 98SE. :? This all worked OK on my WinXP partition, but I still use Win98SE more.
I used DXDiag to disable the DirectDraw and Direct3D hardware acceleration in Win98SE and played game with no lockups. :D I think this is preferable to my previous suggestion which disables ALL hardware acceleration features within Windows.
Still have video corruption on intro "movie", but who needs to watch that all the time. Was experiencing probs with engine noise disappearing after explosions in game, (dropped cluster bomb on many targets), but after fiddling with Sound Prefs in FA, it cleared up. Same sound probs were occuring in XP.

Fighters Anthology-Full Install (digital music)

CONFIG:
Gigabyte GA-8SG667 motherboard
Pentium 2.4 GHz
512 MB 266MHz RAM
Sound Blaster PCI 16 - drivers 20.17 ( No music at all in FA with newer WDM drivers, :x I know, it sux sometimes)
MSI FX5600-VTDR128 - using Nvidia Detonator drivers 56.64
SideWinder 3D PRO joystick - installed as CH Flightstick PRO, without Microsoft drivers installed (doesn't really make any difference), will not detect as SW 3D PRO in Win98SE, but will in XP.
DirectX 9.0 - was having same probs with DirectX 8.1

Hope all this is useful to someone - 8)

I also have an Nvidia card that I switch in and out depending on what I'm running. Maybe now I can just leave it in all the time.
Thanks for returning and posting your solution,
