Opinions, comments, and contributions, for a Zephyr Net Screen saver Project ...

Because this medium, and Zephyr in general has been such an important communication tool and friend to me I would like to make an screen saver to represent Zephyr's message board and his devotion to keeping the FA sim alive and access to files for this sim available to all with no strings attached.

First the finial editorial approval will be solely up the Zephyr.

Second any suggestions about content are welcome at this stage. But any inclusion as to 3D Card makers logos and Peripheral devices such as Joysticks will be Zephyrs choice alone.

Third all screen shots will be accepted at this stage and I would love to somehow include a mention of all the regulars and members that contribute screen shots of FA to the project, I.E. maybe on the screen shots a description of the Plane / Action in screen shot / and the Pilot that took the screen shot.

Fourth the logos from any Squadron your are active in are welcome, and the libs the Planes in the Screen shots are taken are from, but at this stage I do not believe links to other sites will be included since sites move around so often. The only links that will be mentioned are those OK'ed and preferred by Zephyr.

I have not discussed this ideal with Zephyr yet, it's just an ideal I had while thinking about making an FA only screen saver. After some input from Zephyr as to whether to proceed I request that screen shots be emailed to me at the email linked at this message board. Please include the details in a text document accompanying them in notepad format and in a zip file with the screen and details included.

If this sounds like something you would like to have or help make, please add you comments to this string.
This would be a nice addition to this site and board, help promote active Squads, and help promote your libs.

First, thanks for the kind words in the opening.

This is a good idea and could really show the diversity of custom libs, maps, and pilots' play styles. A view of how versatile this game is, and also some of its history. Video card and joystick logos, pictures, etc. might be copyrighted but there are often fair use options and publicity shots for those things. I'll have to try making some screenshots that are worthy of a screensaver.

which resolution? 1024x768? Most of mine are just 800x600.

Here is the first draft of FA Screen Saver.

Target file size = 4mg.
Still have room for about half a doz screens.
Feed back is encouraged.

Just had a look at it and no, it wasnt me in that MiG-25

I like it, especially your little series of screenshots, unfortunately I don't have pictures that fit together that well.

I'd suggest speeding up the intro part a bit. And of course some more screenshots would be nice.

I've tried installing the 2nd and 3rd betas of the screensaver and am unable to get them to work. When I try to preview the screensaver, or wait for it to activate, I recieve an error message "Some support files are missing for this screen saver. Please run its install program again."

I can run beta 1 with no problems. I'm using Windows XP Pro.
