Okay two things... 1 take a look at http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... f-18ef.htm you willl notice on this site they refrance a 25% increase in wing area (flaps are included in the wing area correct ) & 2 Have you stood on the Deck of a carrier watching both aircraft being sent into harms way? Or have you touched them, seen them sitting on the deck side by side? I know that it way come as a shock that a 24 year old young man could possibly know what he is talking about but saddly it is true the flaps (as noted in first reply) are larger on the Super Hornet even if it just a b/c of the increase of the wing area (does anyone else notice the size increase in the LERX's? as well) the Super Hornet is larger than the regular Hornet in every respect

I dont need the dubious data of FAS to tell me about an aircraft family I have been studying for the better part of 30 years ( back when it was the YF-17 and even before that when it was the Northrop Cobra ).
Now if your done being a troll lets get back to what YOU said:

They are not, both the Rhino and the Hornet have full trailing edge flaps and flaperons, in fact the likelyhood is that the SH flaps represent a SMALLER % of the total wing area due to the SH's larger wing. Maybee while you were standing around watching the Hornets on board ship you would have A: measured them. And B: learned who your opponant was before mouthing off. If you think I will bow to you BECAUSE you were allegedly in the Navy, you should probobly think again. Dont come to this board as a nugget and think you own the place.

Okay first off I should lighten the seen by agoligizing I re-read my post & it was a bit (no very) hostile I had been talking to some one & was pist off in the first place & then just sort of vented here vice responding proberly (I must admit I have shown my rear & inexperiance) & if you can forgive any misspellings spelling was never a strong suit of mine to answer in turn...

VNFA-
1. I was eager to get in & have something to say & it be recognized as valid (being new & young I was seeking approval)
2. I should have been much clearer in my original post
3. In my opinion for the visual realisticness of it I guess it is no less important to have the flaps & flaperons (proper term I was reminded of curtisy of Kaptor) on both sicne they both have them in real life
4. I can tell the diifferance between the H & SH in many ways so I'm not going to be in any trouble there

1. I restate my apoligy from earlier I did not mean to be a pumpus prick

4. I shouldn't have run that quick search & chosen any site to support me
5.I did not intend for you to bow to me due to my service, as I said earlier there was a significiant amount of tesosterone flowing & I should have eased the flow & took my time reponding to prevent myself from coming across the way I did esp when you took the time to respond to me directrly...
6. I did not messure the flaps no, I never expected to be depateing the size of the flaps

I will say this though I stand by the fact that they are bigger (or at least apear to be bigger) than the H's but I will concied that that is simply due to the fact that the plane itself is larger.


Perhaps I can extend an olive branch to all & ask that I may be forgiven for my brash behavior... I will keep my place & tread much lighter as to have to prevent any other mistakes that I will have to recover from...

I have not studied the family like you have but I do have an opinion on the families source... the Air Force made the wrong choice, do you agree?

AF made the right choice for THEM ( the AF ). The F-16 is a fine multi-role aircraft to fill the "low tech, low cost" requirement the AF was looking for to compliment the "high tech, high cost" F-15. Unfortunatly for all parties involved the F-16 was el wrongo maximo for the U.S. Navy, not quite big enough for all the systems they wanted to pack into it, not strong enough and they didnt want to sink considerable $$ into a single engine plane that had zero choice to divert for an emergency landing on it's way back to the carrier.
I'm a big fan of the Hornets and nothing out there can do ALL the jobs the Hornets can do in a single airframe and STILL make carrier landings. It's short legs are the result of two engines in a small package with a decent amount of power, not much you can do about that, especially considering it wasnt a "clean sheet" when the Navy got to it.

Kaptor I appreciate the slack, & my personal feelings on the YF-17 is even underpowered the 17 out flew the 16 in all but like one or two area's I feel the AF made their decission based on the cost of maintinance & training (common engine between the 15 & 16) I agree no aircraft can do it all (I also have feelings on another gem that got the short end YF-23) & in no way do I discredit the 16 it does a great job doing what needs to be done, I've never flown a "jet" so I can't speak on how they handle in real life although I have enjoyed my time in a 46 CUB I found it intoxicating & hence why I enjoy FA so much...

(does anyone know if there is to be a scheduled switch for the Blue Angles from the H to the SH?)

VNFA-Last name is Rockwell that is where I pick up the name Rock & I can tell you now unfortunetly I wasn't a memeber of any squads my first go round (I could never get a stable enough conection to play for anything longer than like 5 minutes so I wouldn't have been much of a help) although now I have DSL & use a wirelless router (will I need to do anything special to be able to get online & fly?)

Next month? well that isn't to far off, will there be instructions?

I wrote the instructions but I never saved them ROFL, hope CAG has a copy lolol.
