Ok both pics are of MiG-21Bis and or MiG-21Mbis(MiG-21Bis/K) The missile in question is on the inner pilons, the "BIG ONE", the 2 missiles on the outer pilons are AA-8's.

I would realy like to nkow what that missile is for sure, I cant realy tell.

THNKX IN ADVANCE...................... 8) [/img]

Russkies usually cover IR seekers with the red nosecone prior to flight, and Yellow over Radar, so since these are Red I would think they were simple IR missiles...

I think the middle is an AA-2C (SARH Attol). The right looks like an AA-2D (IR) and the left is definitely the AA-8. IR seekers need rounded noses for their seeker whereas radar or SARH usually have pointed. (AIM-9 v AIM-7)

wow a SARH Atoll, now the Fishbeds can miss, in ANY kind of weather LOL ,yeah the pointy nose and (for me the kicker) tan natural fibreglass color give it away as RF seeking.

The ATOLL is a direct copy of the Sidewinder and that is overly confirmed so don't go saying it isn't. AA-2 = AIM-9B; AA-2C (SARH) = AIM-9C; AA-2D (Improved IR, still sucks) = AIM-9D...

They can't do anything on their own and their copies are always sh*t in comparison.

Ofcourse the AA-2 family is a direct copy of and advencment (limited not very good or efective) of the AIM-9. The ruskies missile program was only able to create the AA-1 opticaly or radio guided missile till the point they got a AiM-9, thats when their missile program took off. But what i need to know is if that missile under the mig is a AA-2-2 Advanced Atoll?

Only the first Atoll was a direct copy. The SARH and later IR versions of the Atoll were evolutions of that first model.

Thats what I meant, or atleast tried to. The first is a direct copy the rest were evolutions but not good ones, russians failed to achive the evolutionary advances that US made with their AM-9. I mean look at the AIM-9 there is the M model and now the new X, while the russian had to develop the AA-8 and AA-11. (AA-11 GREAT MISSILE, AA-8 GOOD/FAIR MISSILE BUT NO AIM-9P OR M)

It looks pointed to me BT but then again it is covered and they only cover IR stuff...maybe it is the AA-2D. I would bet on it.
