I will again take a look when I can get to it...

I should be able to help with the problems on the A-6 skins if they are misaligned?

I put textures from the USNF 97 A-6 onto the FA shape, so the aircraft would have animated gear, flaps, etc. The problem seems to be with the shape at medium and far distance level of detail. I'll look into it when I get a chance.

So what is the issue? Incorrect color matching at those distances to the closeup shape colors in the new skins?

At medium to far visual ranges from the shape, multi-colored polygon "spikes" come out of the shape, in various directions, in a kind of flashing effect. They are maybe visible in about 20% of the frames. At close ranges, and any range showing textures, they do not appear.

It is a default A-6 shape, the only modifications done to the shape are hex editing its references to point to the modified texture. If gourand or light source shading are turned off, the spikes are no longer multi-colored, and just the gray color of the base shape. I have seen this before... What did you do to the shape?

Did you recolor it or try to edit the shape or skin layouts?

The only thing I did was rename it and hex edit it to change instances of "A6.SH" to the new texture name, initially "A8.SH" and later "I6.SH".

I think you should start again with the default shape, as I think you have corrupted the segment of the shape that controls the the distance detail lods...

It happens sometimes when the hex editor drops a bit during the save. It corrupts a segment of the shape...

Also if you are using any out of pallet colors it can do the same when the distance lod changes...
