nvidia 8800gt and it doesn't have any specific drivers. i played around with the drivers with no results. i fixed the lib building issue by disabling UAC though so there is no lib compatibility issue across xp and win7 (i guess that's good news). so for now im only having display issues which is again all my colors are totally messed up. btw when i take a screenshot in win7 the display is correct.

Well you never answered my original question about the EA.CFG file...

Also did you try to patch FA after installation or did you simply copy a burned copy of the game from a working patched version off your old XP setup onto your new Win 7 setup?

the ea.config file thing?? i did that last year on the beta with no results. It's official FA is incompatible with windows 7. I even tried a format and reinstalled FA with 1.02F patch today with no results. I think directx11 and FA are not compatible. well that's a big blow for the FA community. i have dual boot with XP tho so that helps a bit. man i was really really looking forward to single booting windows 7 only looks like ill be stuck with winxp untill death do us apart.

I've got a beta version of Windows 7 running FA, with my lib, just fine. I had some trouble installing the latest Nvidia driver so I uninstalled the driver and let Windows install its own driver. I chalk that up to the Windows version being beta. Does an old beta of Windows 7 have Direct X 11?

I found an interesting post about JF-18 and Win 7... Seems the comodo firewall has a failure at bootup that effects the game. I dont know jack about win 7, does it include this firewall by default? ...

Quote:
Ok, now what happened? Last week i installed LongbowII, which kept hanging with a black screen (actually all three of them) on startup. No way to get back to Desktop. My culprit was the TH2Go as the screen resolution may have been too much to handle for Longbow II.
Too frustrated to push myself through the dance i installed Janes F-18 with it's fancy new TSH4.02 all in one installer. And guess what?
It worked perfectly. Launched the game, Janes intro , TSH intro , singlemission: carrier day landing, break turn, groove, three wire, whiping a tear out of the corner of my eye. And that is without any compatibility setting in windows and no AA slowdown!

Ok now everything is cool, right? NO
The next day i started up jf18 all screens went black just like LongbwII, no joy! Something must have changed.
TH2Go wasn't a problem (without Matrox Desktop). You don't even have to use windowed mode for the sim. I use 1600x1024 and it simply cuts off the left and right side black. Switching from overclocked settings to BIOS default changed nothing. Compatibility modes didn't help either.
Then i noticed that sometimes when i boot i get an error message that "cfp.exe" couldn't load. I googled it and found out that it is a service for COMODO firewall. I closed COMODO and there you go jf18 works. Longbow still crashed, but goes immediately back to desktop. Maybe a memory issue that i have to take a closer look at.

Bottom line: it looks like the Janes titles have probs with this cfp.exe. Giving the sims full rights in COMODO doesn't help. It's the service that crashes them

Have you tried disabling your embedded firewall yet or simply copying a 1.02F patched working version of FA of an XP machine yet?
