Hey I was wondering if in your travels throughout books & the internet any of you came across the information I'm about to request. In all of my travels I haven't found squat and I've asked at dozens of places already and searched countless more.

Does anyone have the dimensions (length, width, height) and weight of the Mark 44 / 143 Armored Box Launchers. I put both designations because I've seen both. If you're wondering what these are, they are the 4-tube Tomahawk launchers on the Iowa battleships and various other cruisers.

Basically the next time I go to Virginia I'm taking a tape measure aboard the Wisconsin but I'd love to find out before then since I don't know when that will be next.

Some of the dimensions should be easy to extrapolite from your picture, especially considering the launcher is only slightly longer then the Tomahawk missile, which is also close to the Mk48 ADCAP torpedo...

The width of the box looks to be close to 3 times the width of the missile (give or take a few inches).

The height is likely just lsightly less...

I will check my Janes Library for you though just to be sure...

Mk 44 (formerly Mk 143) armored box launchers weigh 26 tonnes and are 7.06 m long and 2.13 m wide and 2.03 m high...

From Janes Naval Weapons Systems Issue 34... October 2000

Oh ef yeah!!! Thanks man!!! Yeah I had some estimates on the dimensions based on a photo I have of me standing next to it on the Wisconsin but I had guesstimating. Thanks!!!!

Does your Jane's references have anything on the launchers for the GLCM and the Midgetman too? I remember you having a big section on VNFAWING but IIRC those were coming from someone else and they couldn't post them anymore?

Yeah Gunsmoke sort of went AWOL on us one day. I am not really sure what happened, he just up and disappeared from the site...

He posted some great pages.

Do you need access to any of that data?

I have a very extensive (A complete library room full) of Jane's books going from 2009 back to the 1930s on some of the titles, so I just about have everything covered...

I will try to get you whatever you need, just let me know and I will check for it...
