We should start a project to try to see what files modify 3d shapes. Maybe hex edit some and see what that correlates. Is there any possibility of hex editing or otherwise editing them to change the shape, or are the files encoded in something weird?

Not so sure what you mean good...what do you mean files and 3d shapes?

The .SH files contain vector coordinates for the polygon vertices. It is possible to manually change these coordinates, as Robert Whitlock did to a MiG-21 shape. Also someone made a skijump deck carrier and a pyramid shape, but I think it's a very tedious procedure. See the 3rd and 4th line of links at:
