What Centurian means that if you are on a map (Let's take the Ukraine map for an example) and if you change the Russians to Friendly, then the "Blue force" can land on the "Friendly" Russian bases, right?

Well, the problem with FA is that if you do that, any aircraft you put at the "Friendly" Russian bases will refuse to take off, instead taxiing to god knows where.

What I do to fix this (Other than creating a new map) is to put another airfield right on top of it whose nationality was friendly in the first place, and it looks fine most of the time... works fine too...

And Cent... sorry to bother you AGAIN but I request you please post the Map Pack on one of the FA LIB Centers... cause I really want to see it... and I can't see it if it's on Topcities...

Which map-pack? E-mail it to me @ Centurian@369thtfw.com when you said map-pack I thought you meant where I got Migslayer's from...sorry...

Do you have Migslayer's Korea map with snow tipped mountains? That's the one I'm talking about... if not, then I've probably seen them all.

It's the one he released when he came back for that week. LOL. I don't know what he has in it but it's up there on my site. I thought you meant that you wanted me to put up a map-pack that you made.

I dont have a solution for the runway problem (except adding another runway on top of the one that causes problems) but I have an explanation.

NVA researched the nationality codes a few months ago and the result was that list with the number code for each nationality. Now you will probably remember that there are 2 numbers for each nation. the lower number means friendly, the higher one enemy.

This system has got advantages: e.g. you can have planes of the same nationality on the enemy and the friendly side at the same time, thats very useful for defector missions or any other mission in which u need planes from the same nationality to fire at each other.

On the other hand it causes some problems: In the MM file the airbases have a fixed nationality code. if the nation is by default enemy (in that map) the airbase has got the high (enemy) number code. Now if you change the side of the nation in question the airbase changes its colour in the map, but when the mission is loaded it will read the enemy code number from the MM file while the plane which is on the runway will have the friendly code number, even though airbase and plane are of the same nationality. Because of this the plane will not recognise the airbase as friendly and will not take off.

The same thing happens if its the other way round (a base which is by default friendly will not let enemy aircraft take off if the side of the nation has been changed to enemy)

adding a duplicate airbase over each of the bases works because the airbase will get its nationality code number in the mission file (i.e. not take it from the MM file) and this way the side of the airbase in the mission file will match the side of all objects from that nation in the mission.

About my Europe map: I haven't made any progress in the last month and Ill be busy for 1 more month. I will continue the project, but it'll take a lot of time :(

Good all around news too about FA Futures. If you need any help in relation to the Library whether that is skins, research, testing or the website etc I'll be more than willing to lend a hand if it is within my ability. I'm currently flying solo and am assigned to no "organization" so if the VNFAWING team needs an outside member in any development I have no problem with that, however you guys might heh. In the meantime I'll be finishing this Sukhoi-33 "Sea Flanker" in the snow camo right now.

If anyone can get me a nice seamless snow terrain too that would be great for when test and take screenshots. Basically what I've done for my alpha jet ones is used a seamless forest tile and replaced the ocean tiles with it so I have endless texture outside that map heh.

Later

Jimbo,

I have a full snow terrain for FA Futures that will be released in August for the winter version of FA Futures Korea 2000...

I think you will like it.. There are screenshots of it on the VNFAWING.com site...
