I have a question about the Raptor program. This program has been going on since about 1989. Roughly a decade ago. Do any of you feel that this program has been moving too slowly? I'm beginning to feel that by the time it enters full service it will be outdated.

It wont be outdated- cause the Russians are too poor to make new planes. And the majority of the rest can't fly what they got already.

Muchless be able to counter the F-22 air dominance super fighter.

Congress has been stalling too much I think but hey there isn't a need for the F/A-22 to be rushed.

Depends on how you look at things Cent... I believe the slow process of the Raptor's development is already costing us alot. Without this aircraft and its unique abilities we will definately have trouble if we ever attempt to attack through the air defenses that North Korea currently has...

Thus we are not as capable in these types of situations until the Raptor comes online...

B-2s are not fighters and do not attack AD targets or take on CAS or intercept/escort missions. There are also so few of them, coupled with the fact that the NKs have a very in depth air defense that relies on radar, IR, visual, and sound detection, coupled with randomizing of aerial fighter patrols. The situation screams for a supercruise capable stealth fighter..

just to cause trouble I'll say this again. I think the F-22 will be cancelled before 50 of them can be produced, and the F-35 will become our "man for all seasons". No it cant do everything the F-22 can do , but it can do much of it, and congress will balk at paying for 2 planes that THEY see as having similar capabilities.

Regarding North Korea,
Shouldn't there be an effective non-war effort that protestors always ramble about right before the attacks, because we know how well these political no war processes go.

Considering that, I've just been inspired with a genius-like proposal...
Seeing there will be some valuable time before any attacks on North Korea are made I say, give this time until things heat up with North Korea for all the anti-war sign holders to come up with a solution this time, you people didn't have a second solution to war in Iraq so now it is time to use that intellect for something other than writing "war is bad - oil stealing is bad" (And yes the war is justified - that isn’t why you don’t have a solution either). I’m unsure if it is just me who finds that funny but personally I'm slaying myself over here. The majority of protestors obviously are against the war but it is that same majority when asked, "What other solution is there?" that have yet to come up with an answer… In most cases they will give a clueless pause and respond with “no war!” which is not a realistic answer by the way, just humorous…these people are almost as bad with responses as the Iraqi foreign minister (the comedian who claimed the infidels had not entered Iraq even though you could hear explosions going off in the background).

I think the time for diplomacy is about gone with NK. They've already admitted to building nuclear weapons, and they've supposedly opened a 2nd plant.

They have to be stopped. We can't just sit back and give in to their blackmail like Clinton did.

We have the superior numbers, we have the superior technology and it's time to act.

To be honest, I would prefer we nuked them, but no way to accomplish that without tremendous loss of life in the South and over Japan due to the prevailing trade winds...

Sorry Kap, but I can not agree. The F/A-22 will go forward, if for nothing else, then the same reason the V-22 will... the massive amount of money already spent on development and testing would cause to much of a public scandal if they were not fully produced. The time both these systems could be cancelled without tremendous repercussions is long past...

Why? Do you realize the state NK is in? Thier army is barely fed. The people will be lining up to surrender. Not to mention a nuclear first strike is about the worst precedent and example the US could possibly give to other nuclear nations...
