My favorite plane is the F-14D Super Tomcat. With a prefered load out of 4 AIM-54C, 2 AIM-7M, and 2 AIM-9M.

ACIG.org lists a MiG-29 kill as manuever on their Gulf War chart, the exact data is:

What exactly is a manuever kill, like running it into the ground?

Yeah, usually running into hills and stuff. In one of the Gulf War manuever kills, maybe this one, the Iraqi pilot tried to do a split-S but ran out of altitude. It might have been at night which can be a problem with hills and stuff.

Still, the most successfule jet in service in the world, for number of confirmed jet on jet fighter combat kills is the F-86 Sabrejet.

Just think of how difficult it was to accomplish these kills at the same dogfight speeds of today (all furballs are subsonic) but with limited engine thrust and spoolup time, plus such a very limited offensive power of 6x50 cal machineguns... No explosive cannon shells and the lead bullet decelerated rapidly after firing, creating quite necessity of taking quite a lead on any pursuit curve...

Coupled with the superior physical performance of the MiG-15s altitude and rate of climb over early F-86 versions (until the non slatted F version) it is amazing indeed how successful it was. Especially in the face of 15 to 1 or 25 to 1 odds it faced in daily combat...

THe only real advantage the Sabre's armament had was rapid fire vs the MiG-15s slow rate of fire of the cannons, plus the radar gunsite, which was available in all Sabre versions, that was credited with giving our pilots superior marksmen ship...

Yes it did very well, until placed in a bad situation where it was outclassed by newer technology, such as when the Paks used it against the IAF in the war... Their losses were high against more modern jets...

Which set the stage for the greatest fighter jet today (all time IMO)- the F-15.

I agree with ya the F-15 is great, but i would chose the F-16 as one of the greatest over the F-15 for the amount of counties it operates in.

F-86 did indeed have losses vs the zero losses of both the F-15 and the F-16... However niether of those jets were involved in a multi year war agaisnt an enemy with numerical (and technical superiority over the F-86A to E version) superiority.

Nor did they ahve to fly to the very edge of their fuel, no engage bandits with only guns, without a radar to find the bandit, nor do it all without AWACs....

In thouse times (Korean War Era) aircombat was lets say more fair. There were no "cheat" weopons such as BVR missiles or any misslies for that matter. Very few aircraft had radar, excpetialy fighters. Ahhhhh thouse were the days.........................

I think I am going to cry.............

It's nothing I just got something in my eye.
