Any help for the issue of not being able to get the FA tool kit to install...It asks for the correct location...(I give it )...it then ask for another correct location on my hard drive for FA...(I give it)....it then says it needs to "DETECT" the CD #1 (blue CD) in my D: drive....at this point it freezes up....and doesn't install.... .says can't find needed FA.exe file (along with an extention that correlates with my computer)..

I'll try with one of the copies I have here.
I'm running the same thing you are, I did not re-install with the original.
Try this for now, put your old blue CD in and see what happens.
Or put the No-CD-CRACK in and see what that does.

CENT or CAQ might be able shead more light on this.

I tried that....using my old blue CD.....no luck...

It says problem with the FATK.EXE file....or something to that effect...

I have noticed in the dowload folder of FA ToolKit....I can't read the text FATK file....it won't load?....

Not sure what the issue is....won't install though...

Any chance Fetch you could edit the load out for an aircraft for me....They way I want it for Single player use...and send me the updated LIB ....

I'm running off a copy install with the no-CD-patch, this is what happened on my end.
The Tool kit needed the FA disk (origional blue one, but I used one of the copies and both indicated the correct drive, but the way my bios is it was showing as the default so it did not really do any searching) only to locate the drive no files where copied or removed. Then it went off like normal.

So I suggest trying it with your blue CD regardless of its condition.
BUT ... you will have to have a good Red CD to install after you get the key code.
I can't be certain exactly what on the CD indicates it is there, CENT or CAG may know what's going on.

In the mean time I'm going to explore both the copies and the original and see if I can pin-point what it's looking for.

Thanks for the help....

I've tried that with my Blue CD...but no luck.....I somewhat think the download is corrupt....but I have downloaded it twice...(the toolkit)....and it hasn't worked either time.....so that leads me to think it is not corrupt...

and the more I look at it....I really like Centurian's GR6....all the loadouts and what not are fine for me....I'd just like the F-14D to be loaded with 4 Phx C - 2 AIM-120C - 2 AIM-9X

Instead of it having the 2 sparrows...

It sounds like a corrupt download.
Re download from a different site or check file size, ZEPHYR list the size of his files so you can cross check.

Question, what happens now when you put in you blue CD?
Did the auto start go and show you the play or install screen?

I'm kind of at a loss, on this one?
I'll try later to duplicate what you got going, I'm in the middle of an reformat, but I was able to get it installed off a copy installation, and then used the orginal blue to detect my drive. I'm sure someone else here will jump in here shortly.

I just did it all again ....
and if FA is in the default location, highly recommended.
mine does not ask for a location it defaults to this....
C:\JANES\FIGHTE~1

Then detects the drive with either original or a copy in.
(again note I'm running off an install from a copy myself)

I have trying running it from the zip and unzipped both worked.
But I was given a warning prior to install that it (ToolKit) may not work properly on 98' due to enhanced operateing systems, I just told it to install anyways, and it did.

That's about all I can say about this issue right now, I'm kinda at a loss.
Hopefully someone else will jump in here soon.

Mine also goes to C:\JANES\FIGHTE~1 automaticlly.....that is where I have it set up as well.....It goes there....then it says it needs the correct path for the Tool Kit to be placed....which is the same location (C:\JANES\FIGHTE~1).....it is at this point....it says it needs to "detect" the CD #1 (Blue CD) from my CD=ROM drive....

At this point....it list my CD ROM drive Correctly as D: (however it stays a light shade of gray (not dark like it is active)...but it then has the "button"...DETECT....which I am suppose to click on....when I do...nothing happens.....basically a freeze up.....doesn't detect what it needs to....to keep the install going...

Also...I have download the tool kit from ZEPHYR download section...twice.

And yes...when I put the BLUE CD in....it does run the auto start....but I don't hit install at that point....because I have already installed the game...from your copy (CD YOU SENT)....

It just seems at the point in the install process for the tool kit....when it asks to look at the FATK file on the CD-ROM drive....at that point it stops..

Anywhere else to download the Tool Kit besies Zephyr?? I think that one might be corrupt...

(LOL ya don't hear that often, even when it's true but I'm pickled )
If when you put in the blue CD the autorun starts it seems like it should go.
If the autorun does not start up, it could be an XP (if that you OS) thing or it just might be a bad CD thing.
I'm sorry I could not help you out, and I hope someone else will jump in here. But at least your up and running. I am very curious as to what is the problem, and if there is something on the origional that was not copied, and or is put there to defeat the copy.

Fetch....again thanks for the CD and your help...

You know...what I did the 1.02 patch...I had a message that said (older file or files not found)...and I thought the patch didn't take....but on my version it is up to 1.02....So I think it worked fine...and it adjusted my settings...so I know the patch was applied...

Any chance you could edit a LIB for me...to have the F-14D starndard loadout be 2 phx C - 2 AIM-120 C - 2 AIM-9x

and email it to me.....just use the GR6 (from centurian ...if he doesn't mind....adjust the loadout for the F-14D)...and after that I guess I don't need the toolkit afteralll...

Here is the error message..

error occured while attempting to copy file. Could not locate file: "C:\Docume~1\TylerP~1\Fatk.exc"


Now this happens....during the install process of ToolKit..after the third time of clicking NEXT during install...when it asks to show where your CD-ROM drive is...

At that point...it shows the correct D: drive...and then you are suppose to click "DETECT"....

It does look corrupt don't it.

check your email dude I'm sending my copy I've had on CD and been useing for years. But send CENT the personal message suggested below, he'll get a kick out of it.

As to libing a lib, there will probaly be a conflict.
Centurian will probably acommidate you any way he can, I haven't checked but I'd bet his libs are not open ended, but ...
even if I could I would not step on Cent's work please direct that request to him, I recommend sending him a personal message asking him to come to this string, title it "FETCH that idiot" and he'll be here LOL. ...
Hang tight I'm sure later tonight he will get back to this board THEN we may get to the bottom of this.

are you sending your tool kit via my meade95 email??

Not sure if it is corrupt....or if it is just a combination of using XP and having a copy CD.....those together...not allowing the tool kit to work...
