Post subject:  f-14 & iran

I was just surfing globalsecurity today and was looking at the iranian air force equipments. I relaised that the f-14 counts and %operations were dramatically changed from two weeks ago.
have a look

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/iran/airforce-equipment.htm

now, i perfectly remember it was 60 tomcats till 2005 and 60% operational.

wonder what happened? :?

by the way iranians are to equip f-14s with I-HAWK missiles?

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/iran/airforce.htm

F-5s though are raised from 25%or35% to 75%. What's up with that?

What does any of this have to do with FA?

As for operational status, you can rely on the fact that less then 10% are now operational in a combat role, because they have no spars for the aircraft...

Also the I-Hawk project was dropped 3 years ago as a failure and the Tomcats have no long range weapons.

Their only remaining role was point awacs. Using thier long range radars as a small point AWACs aircraft...

As for the F-5s, there are plenty of parts available on the black market since this aircraft is in service all over the world. I also believe they were able to purchase some surplus retired Es and Fs...

But again, why is this in the FA forum instead of the Mil Discussion Forum?

Logic dictates that question might better be ask of Global Security.

But one opinion would be,
If all the western controlled intel outlets start reappraising a threat upward, it generally is done preceding an attack, so as in part be used to substantiate the aggressive posture.

They served their purpose.
The MIG-25 overflys stopped.

And geeze, as someone that was evolved in aerospace production at one time.
Jimminey-Crickets man do you know hard it is to get a Democratic President (since Kennedy) that will lift a finger to help, bolster, or fund and arms manufacturer?
We are lucky if they OK the purchase of any worth wild system for ourselves.

They pose no more a threat than any other airframe they got.
Nothing they got can penetrate our defenses.
The Pilots they have just don't get enough air time to compete with any Allied air force.

Although I wish i could find that link I had to a site with air to air tallies from the Iran and Iraq war. It was surprising to me how many guys that got 4 kills, and just missed ACE. And also the overall Pilot loss on both sides. It was like the Battle of Britain lots of guys went up and got toasted their first sortie .... on both sides.
When all the numbers are crunched it was one of the most active air campaigns since WW2.

A single aim-54 phoenix who killed 1 mig and caused 2 others in formation to crash, 1 survived.

Most of IRIAF pilots who fought in the Iraqi war where trained by USAF and were trained on 1 against 3 dog fights. Nearing the end of war most of them were executed for still being loyal to the overthrown Shah. Thats why all of IRIAF new pilots

Aaah Fetch, your ok...

I just wish you would spend some time over on my forums. We could use your input and your opinions. We have all sorts of new forums now. But alas you dont seem to have the interest...

I am afraid that you will have to hold down the fort over here without me in the future. I no longer have time to support users over here and at my site. New demands of the job and other parts of my life have eliminated the free time I need to do both.

FAF Korea is approaching its ultimate form, then FAF NATO will begin. A new external game interface is under development with huge capabilites coming close to what Falcon 4 offers...

All new capabilites, online world war server, new world theaters, weapons, vehicles, cockpits, shapes, skins... Its all changing, but with all my other demands I barely have enough time to keep my sites going...

I hope to see you over there, but I wont be surprised if I dont. You seem to have your niche here and strong roots...

Good luck...

CAG Hotshot,
Words alone will never be able to show both my admiration and respect I have for you and your commitment to the Flight Sim community in general, not just the work you are doing to keep the FA sim alive.
I am so glad you brought up your board.
First congratulations on creating such a useful board and being able to bring together fans of this sim.
A task not easily done, and an achievement in it's own right.
The last time I went there I was overwhelmed at all the activity. It's almost hard to decide which boards I could actually contribute to.
The fact is that my interest in Flight Sims is not what it used to be, as I get older. But my support of you and your endeavors has not.
I will jump on your board and get into the mix as best I can, but I'm afraid that beta testing will be the only way I may serve, since I am absolutely NOT an computer expert in any form in comparison to you and the people presently assisting you.
One thing that might be of interest is that I recently re-opened my account at "my docs online .com" so if needed I can host files up to 300mg for download.
This goes for anybody and any flight sim, if you want me to host large files for you just get em to me (I can email a mailing address if needed) and I'll send you a link to it.
