According to Wikipedia, only the Norwegian NASAMS and NASAMS 2 systems have been deployed. The US deployed a few NASAMS systems for the 2005 presidential inauguration. To bad... It was a great off the shelf system with so much promise... Sooner or later it will dawn on the boneheads in charge that our ground troops have no real local air defense options for attackers flying at medium altitudes unless its allocated to patriot, which can not handle all threats on a real battlefield. Especially forward elements on the move that could advance beyond patriot coverage. These systems would have filled the gaps nicely... |
