I removed the R-27 AE(EA?) and the R-27 EM (ME?) from FAF and repalced them with Skysword I and Skysword II for the new skined Chuko Taiwanese fighter...

I think this is a better solution since this aircraft rarely ever carries a sparrow/sidewinder mix like I had in FAF...

Also, I have run into a problem with some of the information previously provided by Centurian on the GBU series of JDAMs and how eralier the GBU-38 had been listed as a weapon based on the Mk-82 500lb bomb, but is now listed as the new 250 lb lightweight JDAM...

I have not yet decided what to do to correct this.

I have also figured out a fix to make the GPS guided weapons much more accurate in fog, cloud, and night use...

These new fixes will be in FAF Korea Summer/Winter...

In FAF? The GPS guidance in FAF was just an altered optical guidance, however they now are self guiding to the target in any weather, better simulating true GPS now...

and hopefully will be susceptible to GPS jamming in the next exe release...

it would be easier to select the target with the laser/IR advanced targeting feature than using radar, if that is possible. that way targets can be selected quicker, and heavy bombers only need to make one pass, like they do in real life.

how does the optical guidence in FA work? guidence that doesnt work at night or in weather?

also, i have read that gps jammers are very inneffective against gps guided bombs, since they require a 7 channel lock, and the directional antennas are pointing towards the sky. also, it only requires clear communication with the satallite for a slit second to direct itself, then the gyroscopes take over, and gps is no longer needed. i have also heard that the gps jammers in iraq were actally bombed with gps guided bombs.

Yes they were, but they were not configured correctly to interfere with the guidance units. They were configured to attempt to block the satellite signals, which is inpractical...

The correct way to jam a GPS bomb is not to attempt to block the signal, but instead to alter it, so the bomb receives faulty location information. Then the bomb will not hit its intended target and be worthless...

In FA optical is day and fair weather only...or it was, now it no langer has these limtations and better simulates GPS capabilities.

as for target lock, that can be aquired through IR/radar/or visually...

We can not simulate coordinate entrance or location in FA (currently)...

i meant by using the right mouse button to select the bracketed targets (ir/laser advanced targeting) and have the GPS bomb guide to them, instead of the ones selected by T or left click (normal radar, visual or ir targeting). is this possible?

I honestly do not know, as I have not attempted it, but it should work fine, as the item is bracketed due to its targetability, however you will (obviously) have to select IR/laser targetting to get the brackets...

THis is actually something we need to look at, as it is a form of targetting long ignored in FA due to the overload it encumbers the pilot with when overfly massive numbers of targets, but it could be a good way to simulate GPS targetting...

The more I think about it, the more i like it!

Great Idea Prism! I will work on this this weekend!

I wonder if I should remove these R-27AE and R-27ME from GR6? I don't utilize them in any campaigns so I guess it's alright.
