What is this LCOS that the B-2 launches in the FAF lib? The JDAMs open the bomb camara window, instead of indicating what target you have selected. This makes it very difficult to see what I have targeted. If the bombs use IR/LASER advanced targeting in the next FAF, this will work because I can still see what is targeted in the shift+2 window. It might be a good idea to equip the B-2 with a IR seeker with all the properties of a radar seeker. This can simulate Low Probability of Intercept radar. I have read that the AN/APQ-181 radar is similar to the F-15's radar, so you may want to base it off of that. |

IR units in FA wont pick up anything on the ground more than about 5 miles away, so hard to use for an LPI. I think the LCOS is the flares that AI aircraft release when overflying targets in FAF. |

what is the point of those flares? I assume that the RWR will pickup a aircraft's radar even if it is in A2G mode, correct? I think that this IR seeker can be used in conjunction with a radarseeker to simulate LPI. You will be stealthy except for the few seconds you need to see whats on the ground. What you really need to look for when flying the B-2 is fighters and their flight paths, so you can weave through them. An IR seeker is atiquate for this. |

Prism... Ther is no 'good way' to simulate a LPI radar in FA or FAF... I substituted a HTS for it on the B-2... You can locate targets with it and not be detected, but you can not rename it LPI becasue then all Harm targetting would be listed as LPI... Its not a great solution but it works... and you locate anything emitting with a radar... sort of super RWR... You have to remember that FAF is strictly limited and we are doing the best with what we have in those upgrades... THis will no longer be an issue after FA-2 Stage 2 goes into effect... The reason for the flares... is to add more 'depth' and realism to combat, since in real life aircraft will spew flares when over a target or in air to air combat whenever they are in a situation where they may be fired upon by a IR missile, not after the launch like they do in FA... CAG out... |
