Post subject: | Hello - new guy |
Hi, I just recently started missing FA (played it many YEARS ago... like 1997-1998) and so I loaded it onto my new PC. I miss this game even more now than I thought but... my plane is acting like it's drunk a case of Red Bull and is moving onto crack cocaine. My PC is too fast, I guess? One barrell roll turns into five and I gently nudge the stick and i almost do a negative loop. Sure someone has come up with a work-around for this? A file that slows the game... something? I appreciate any help you guys can give me in advance. And I just found out about Hyperlobby as well so I'll probably see you all around. - Hawkeye |

The patch should already be on your FA CD you just needed to find and run it Welcome back to our little clan. I doubt very many other sims get people coming back after a decade or so |

LOL! I'm in that boat too. But I contend that Falcon 3.0 may be the only one that can do that for me lol |

That's because you are Canadian and therefore unable to distinguish excellence ( FA ) from mediocrity (Falcon xx ) lol |

I've always thought it would be soooooo nice if they came out with an updated version of this game. New graphics engine but same old game. But i guess there is no "they" anymore, anyway. =( (Janes) Nice Libs, by the way - Nuclear Forces is pretty sweet. When do most of you fly? |

I have played around with some dedicated sims, and they have their perqs, but you just can't beat 100 flyable planes, 15 or so maps, and all that versatility that FA packs. |

LOL Sorry Kaptor, I'm actually Irish born, living in Canada. But I have to be sentimental about Falcon 3.0. That was the first "serious" sim I ever played. Before then, F-15 Strike Eagle II. Mind you, I love FA, don't get me wrong |

Hawkeye you sound familiar... Did you fly online in 1997 and 1998? Zephyrnet and the FARC are the best places for support for default FA... Have you visited VNFAWING.com to see what we are doing with FA Futures these days? Its a complete rebuild of FA to a new and better standard... http://vnfawing.com/ http://vnfawing.com/forum/ CAG out... |

Yeah I flew online with the (can't remember the designation to save my life... i wanna say 116th?) Viper Squadron. Postal was head honcho and Ghost a quick second if any of those names ring a bell? I still had Hawkeye as my callsign and I always flew with another guy who went by "Wiz". I'd really love to get back into a squadron again (if there are any left around). I pulled up the site you posted but don't really know what I'm looking at? What is it exactly you guys are doing there? It was the 124th TFS Vipers. Just remembered. =) |

The 77th is still flying FA, FA Futures, and Strike Fighters/Wings over Vietnam. They are recruiting right now... Here is a link to their forum... http://p070.ezboard.com/b77thgeneralpurposemessageboard and we host their website for them off the vnfawing.com server... http://77th.vnfawing.com/ |

Hotshot, I took your advice and left a message on the 77th's board. So I guess this FAF is actually flyable now or is it a work in progress? You can tell I've beejn totally out of the loop for a long time, but these screens for FAF/FA-2 look great. Is this some kind of a LIB or is it an actual modification/ exe? |

FAF indeed is a work in progress... FAF Korea 1995 - 2010 is the next release. Hopefully we will get the last few quirks ironed out of it soon and get it released... FAF it a full replacement of all existing libs in FA. Many default items that were not popular will be gone, all aircraft will be of upgraded shapes and skins. Also the exe is heavily modified, the internal GUI screens are running at 1024 x 768 instead of the default 640 x 480 and as such have a much more modern and crisp look. In addition all terrains are upgraded, as well as scenery items... All objects (weapons, nehicles, etc) are equally improved. All radio calls are also improved, as are many of the cockpit sounds. Plus a whole lot more... When FAF Korea is released, it will actually be bigger then the game you have now, replacing the exe and all associated lib files... CAG out.... |

That sounds like exactly what I was hoping someone would do with FA. Pretty cool stuff. So is any version actually out or is it still being worked on? I went to the downloads section of VNFAWING but it said it was still under construction. |
