I'm flying a mission with a lib that I made. I'm flying as an F-15 against two chinese "J-28" that I made. I manage to take out the first one with an AMRAAM, but then the second comes around behind me and invariably crashes into me. I replayed the dogfight 5 times. Each time, the AI runs me. I have both J-28's set to "Ace" pilot and the AI profile for it is F.BI. Any ideas on why they're running me down? |

Shouldn't a crash be a last resort when they run out of weapons though? |

The problem exists becasue the 'hit bubble' of the aircraft you based you new aircraft on was to large. This bubble is what the game uses for weapons hits and object collissions. This is a hardline error in FA, and its not just related to the AI, which comes in to close during their maneuvers, which you could survive if the hit bubbles were correct size. Its prevelent throughout the entire simulation, due to seperate departments developing seperate parts of teh game since they were all seperate games at one time, and then combining them without all the proper fixes being put into place... Another example, on the opposite end of the spectrum, is that tanks and some other vehcles have to small a hit bubble and tank cannon fire can pass right throuh parts of the shape causing no damage... CAG out... |
