Hi All: Taking a cue from Zephyr's enormously useful ATF_Shapes LIB, I've compiled a USNF'97 Shapes LIB containing all the aircraft shapes and textures unique to USNF'97. You can download it here: https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/fa/97_sh.zip ReadMe for the project is here: https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/fa/97_SH.TXT Screenshots for all eleven included aircraft can be found in the \SS sub-dir after you unzip 97_sh.zip. Best, Eric L. Howes |

Thanks for making this. I'll host on my site if you don't mind. The A-6 and E-2 look proportionally better looking than their FA counterparts IMO, too bad they don't have more animations or destroyed versions. On the other hand, the old USNF A-10 leaves something to be desired. |

Zephyr: You're more than welcome to host it on your site. The A-6, EA-6, and E-2 are the best of the lot. A few months ago I installed the original US Navy Fighters (DOS) on an old PIII that I maintain for older games. It was shocking how weird (and bad) the shapes and textures were. Even still, I don't recall it detracting from the sheer fun of the game itself. Eric L. Howes |

Best, Eric L. Howes More nice work... I might be able to use the E-2C in FAF Korea, as it saves me time and effort on my part in adapting the existing E-2C shape (Really an E-2B shape BTW) ... CAG out... |

Unfortunate dissappointment on the E-2 Shape... 1. No Tail Hook 2. No Landing Gear 3. Doesnt seem to work in XP SP2 |

I can use this shape as a guideline for modifying the existing FA shape to better represent the aircraft since it has many similiar polygons to use. It wont be as simple as using the existing shape of course, but I may simply be able to use the polgon layout points and not have to burn time experimenting... |

Ok I overcame the XP-SP2 error and got the USNF E2C shape/skin to work in FA Futures... That is the good news, but the bad news is no animations on the shape, no landing gear, no hook, no flaps... So essentially its only useful as an inflight shape. I can still use it as a model for altering the FA E2C to match it, and I can even use the existing skin if I want to. But overall its not much more then airborne eye candy... Screenshots below... There is also a skin stretching issue that I will have to fix if I use this shape. See how the national insignia gets stretched below... |

I like the USNF A-6E and the EA-6B shapes as well... They seem to have SOME working animations, like landing gear and landing hooks. I will post images of them tomorrow... |
