i was wondering if any1 has came up with a way to use google earth's satellite textures for the terrain in FA? i tried in my ontario lib and it showed up fine just that each sqaure (textile) of images are spread throughout the map and its horrible. it would be sweet if we could paste google earth's satellite images on maps.

as you can see its all in wrong places, but it looks nice. at least the idea is nice. the image needs to have the right zoom and everything too.

Pasting terrain is easy. The problem is that the scale of the pixels in the terrain is all wrong.

I am trying hard to solve this issue by compressiong larger terrain tiles into FAF to replace the low resolution tiles that are currently in the game...

BTW you have to understand how to place tiles and rotate them to make your terrain usable...

CAG out...

In order to get good tiles you need to keep in mind the dimensions of the tiles themselves. They're 1nm square. Also, keep those tiles to a minimum since FA can only support so many graphics for the map. I think that if there's a really special area you'd like to map, try using the google maps approach but also reserve enough tiles to complete the rest of the map.

My two cents,
