New thread....(Fetch and Cent...you will know what i'm talking about)... Okay, I am getting the idea behind editing the hardpoints...via NOTEPAD....however, is there some some of rule...that you can only edit like 3 or 4 aircraft....many times...I edit a number of aircraft....(in notepad)...only then to open the mission in FA...to find like 2 or 3 aircraft have been removed from the mission?? |

Your in good hands with CENT now meade, He's the true expert here. I may post just so as you guys know I'm here and reading. But in general CENTs advice supercedes mine. |

If a plane has disappeared, it's probably a typo (in your script). Watch your spaceing, and script must be EXACT (watch the spaceing). Practice is the key, after you do a few you'll be writeing them like a pro. |

Fetch, Yep...I'm trying to get it.....just odd how when I adjust some via notepad...when I go back in....the mission has deleted some of the aircraft from the map.....that gets frustrating...and I can't seem to get a target on WHY??...you know like a method to how / why this happens....seems random at this point.... also...so your hardpoints start at " 0 " Cent...(that makes sense)...I've noticed on the default...it seems the game starts at "3"....being the first slot up till 8.....Cent yours go from 0 to 5 then I take it? (being there are 6 slots for weapons to be placed).. |

OK this is how I do mine. I'll save the mission as a1, do a little scripting, and save it as a2. Check it. Go back and script a little more, then resave as a3 .... so on so on. When I'm finished I'll save it by the mission name I had planned I can't just go down the line and script an entire mission anymore like I used to when this was my primary sim. For what it's worth ... you've cover quite a bit of ground so far. Soon you'll be here caoching people yourself. And meade .... you will find as you teach and help people, you get BACK more than you give. |

Fetch, I like that idea...saving as A1...then A2...then A3 with each change....thanks.... Yeah...I keep thinking it must be something to do with how I script it...as to why the plane just disapears once I go back into the mission....but I can't seem to figure it out....A couple times I have thought I double checked....but it is probably something like that....OR maybe you can only adjust a # of planes....via the "hardpoint 4 4 AGM88.JT" tweak way?? |

Quote: and I can't seem to get a target on WHY??... I'm a little fuzzy on what you mean, but if I understand, You actally must "click the mouse pointer on" or point to the desire target, once you select the target on option of the attacker. This can be a kind of hassle if the attacker is "far" away from target. And this is what I do ...I.E. Lets say I'm going to fly over the border and want all the AAA and SAMs to target me. I'll drag my plane to that area while there I'll target my plane by the AAA and SAMs, then drag my plane back to the carrier or starting point. |

Fetch, Bad choice of words on my part....(by saying target )....I didn't mean "to target me".....I was just trying to say...I can't "figure out why"....when I edit some planes via notepad....when I come back into the game...and open that mission.....some of the planes are gone... but thanks for that tip...on getting AAA and SAM to target... |

At any time, if your really pulling your hair out. You can send me the .M file and a explaination of what's going on in an email. If you use the david.a.jordan email address I'm sure to see it sooner. I sometimes go a couple days without checking my yahoo address. But normally check my personal one at least twice a day. |

Fetch.....thanks...I'll do that when needed... You see, what is strange though...is say I have a test mission...Called TEST....so in FA I go add 6 planes (3 F-14 and 3 F-18)....then I get out of FA...and go open that mission (TEST) via notepad... At that point I adjust the loadouts for the aircraft...hardpoints... It is at this point...when I go back into FA ...to see the mission (TEST)..it will only show say 3 or 4 aircraft...(deletes the other 2)......and then when I go back out of FA and into notepad....the planes will be gone there as well?? Can't seem to figure out why...some planes once I edit them...don't show up .... |

I have had no problems even when editing more than 20 planes in the same mission. YOu have to be careful to keep the dot that marks the end of a plane section. If you delete that it will cause an error or just delete the plane which comes next. |

Also meade, there's one other thing I want to mention. That's the .MT files (mission text) if you already understand the relationship between the .M file and the .MT file please disregard this post, but if not please check out this little .zip, it's kinda old but it has helped a lot of people. FA Mission Text Tutorial And one more suggestion. If you want a quick reply about scripting something in FA, just copy it and paste it here in a post. Anybody around at the time will probably be able to fix it up .... this is exactly what I do if I get pickled scripting something |

Tank, Maybe you nailed it.....maybe I'm not being careful enough with that "DOT" at the end.....sometimes maybe I just replace it.... thanks for the tip.. |
