Does anyone know what types and how many ships are in a standard carrier group for the Royal Navy? I'd imagine it'd have one Invincible class and then a few destroyers but I do not know for sure. Anybody know what it would be in 2006?

Currently the RN battle group consists of a Invincible Class, a Type 22 or 23 (depending on which survives the cuts) and a Type 42(soon to be replaced with a Type 45), plus a nuclear submarine and appropiate resupply and support vessels.

This is the minimum for their current force projection.

For a Task force they would double all ships,

Well the Brits, since Falklands, have always paired the TYpe 42 and 23 together so they have high altitiude and low altitude coverage... They call the combo the Type 65...

So I would alter it atleast to be 2 type 23s and 3 type 42s...

Also since you are incliuding their AMphibs you will need troop carriers and hospital ships... etc...

BTW That qualifies as a Taskforce..

Very cool I'll have to take a peak at it. It's for one of the next stages of my World War III set. This is the layout of the World War III set.

War on Terror (Afghanistan 2001, Iraq 2003)
The Rites of the Undead (Iran 2003)
Operation Cuban Response (Cuba 2004)
Operation Korean Resolve (Korea 2005)
Russia 2005 - 2009 (Vladivostok, Ukraine, Baltics)
China 2005 - 2009 (Vladivostok, Taiwan, Vietnam)
Falklands 2006 (Falklands Islands w/ another Argentine Invasion)
Balkans 2009 (Another war in the Powder Keg)
India/Pakistan 2010 (What I'll be using Manoj's LIB for)

We're looking at a lot of missions to come.

Yes quite good I must say. It'll be fun defending those against Argentine Super Entendards with Exocet missiles. But at least now you won't just be using AIM-9s, you'll get some 120Bs.

Question: Will UK recieve the AIM-120C?

Very few Bs were actually produced for export. I have seen them carrying and launching Cs on both the Tornado and the Sea Harriers...
