I used to use a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick, first generation(?) with
2 buttons and throttle, to fly FA. I noticed that using the throttle, you could
only get 3% increments or so, that is, 0-3-6-9-12-15 ect throttle values
on your HUD, sometimes, it woud be like 4-7-10-13, always in 3%
increments. I was thinking that this was due to an archaic joystick.

I've recently acquired another joystick without throttle, and I build my
own throttle and rudder pedals for it, using 1megohm potentiometers.
It works good, but I have the same "problem" with throttle values; could
only get the values in 3% variations. This cannot be due to my
homebuilt throttle; I built it as a helicopter collective, with a long handle,
so I can "fine-tune" the potentiometer very easily.
My (english) FA is also patched with patch version F.
No libs installed so far, just did a reformat recently.

Why can't I increase/decrease my throttle values in 1% increments?
Something that can be fixed in a lib?
Maybe I have some settings wrongs?

Many thanks.

I have the same effect with my X45. It can't be fixed in a lib. Either it is caused by DirectX, or by FA itself. In that case it might be possible to be changed by editing the FA.EXE. The chances of that are pretty slim, though.

Yeah I have the Sidewinder 3D Pro and it does the same...You have to push the throttle in minute increments to increase a little bit. I can be done just requires very carefulness.

I think it is related to your joystick controller...

I get increments of 2% and sometimes 1% with my throttle...

I can easily set poer to 80, 90 or 100%... plus, of course, afterburner...

CAG out...

I just got myself a SUNCOM SFS throttle/joystick from eBay.
WOW!
But I have the same problem with the throttle; it keeps going in
3-points increments, even if I move the throttle lever VERY carefully.
Something to look into for FA libs maybe?

Eh, CAG, what kind of throttle are you using that permit 1-points
increments?

And another thing, I noticed that on the planes that use thrust-vectoring
like the Harrier, for vertical take-off, you only can move the nozzles in
10-points increments.
Is it possible to "correct" that "defect" in future libs? That is, make the
nozzles orientable in 5-points or 1-points increments instead?
Or does the Harriers actually move their nozzles in 10-points increments
in the real life?

Many thanks!

someone makes a mod just for F-16s that removes most of the movement from the stick and boosts the sensitivity to simulate the (almost) non-moving F-16 sidestick.
