Israel has the best aircraft in the region.

F-4E Kurnass 2000 Phantom IIs
F-15C Eagles
F-15I Strike Eagles
F-16C/D Falcons
Kfir C.7s

Probably some other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. Thus why I voted for them.

Syria you know has some Flankers!

A large part of the Arabian Penninsula Data Base of this site is compiled by former Pilots of the Imperial Iranian Air Force that are in exile since Iran has become a fundamentalist theocracy. Their info on the current statis of Irans decaying Airforce and air Defence network is very good.

http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/cat_index_15.shtml

Here is another favorite of mine, also maintained by former Imperial Iranian Air Force Pilots.

http://www.iiaf.net/home.html

At this time both the Iranian Air Force and Air Defences are all but non existant and mere shadows of what once was.

Well the shape of Iran's F-14As is unknown but largely they think that, at best, 24 are flyable if any.

F-4Es are in bad shape as well, no parts to keep them aloft (as with the F-14s).

The MiG-29s and Su-24s they have came from Iraq when the Iraqi Air Force fled to Iran. They are in better shape than the F-14s and F-4s as those parts are probably easily available and at the time they got them, Iraq had taken good care of their aircraft.

MiG-29s aren't really a match for F-15s, though Sukhoi-27s or above (excluding the Frogfoot) are.

Iran's F-14s don't really work too well for lack of parts, and in a vain attempt to fool everyone that they do (in that public military display thing they did a while back), they probably cannibalized most of their machines.

Israel has unquestioned air superiority in the region. If it didn't, it would no longer exist... end of story.

Also, if you want to make your own weapons icons, start with one of the old ones. IF you are even a single row of pixels off on a brand new icon, FA will still display a black box.

You forgot the brand new F-16Is that the IAF is currently taking delivery of, plus their ever expanding helo force of AH-64s with their new AH-64D longbow purchase...

You also left out the most important aircraft of all in the Israeli Airforce...
Their AWACs platforms... Clearly one of the best in the world in capabilites to manage the electronic battlefield...

Plus their large and diverse inventory of UAVs and recon drones...

Their new SAM systems are also the most capable in the entire middle east, capable of intercepting any known theater missile threat...

The Israelis are also very interested in both F-22s and F-35s for future aquisition...

Personally I dont think we should supply then a single weapon or aircraft, considering how involved they were in illegal technology transfer to teh Chinese in the defunct AWACs project and the ongoing J-10-Lavi program...

The Iranians, on the other hand, suffer tremendously from lack of spares and ordnance for thei Amercian aircraft and have been taking delivery of Russian and Chinese aircraft in an attempt to make their airforce credible...

They have even adapted Hawk SAMs to be fired from Tomcats, as they have no servicable Phoenix missiles left in their inventory...

They are reportedly very interested in the new Chinese J10s. So the VERY short sighted Israeli decision to help the Chinese with the J-10 may indeed come back to bite them in the ass the way the Rolls Royce decision to sell the Russians the Nene Jet Engine did later in the form of the MiG-15 during the Korean War...

CAG out...

I would also like to point out the fact that the Israeli's have an manufacturing base and do produce some of their own aircraft, along with modifications based on their defense needs.

But above and beyond the actual inventories of the countries in question, their Pilot training is second to none on earth.
This coupled with their aggressiveness account for their historical success rates.
I once again would like to post these stats for your consideration ...

A BRIEF HISTORY
> 1967 The Six Day War
Fought against four Air Forces simultaneously
Destroyed 400 enemy planes in one day
Complete air superiority in 3 hours
> 1973 Yom Kippur War
Shot down 450 enemy planes
> 1981
Bombed the Iraqi Nuclear Power Plant
> 1982 Peace For The Galilee
Shot down 100 Syrian planes with no IAF losses
Destroyed 19 SAMs in one day

To under estimate their capabilities is clearly a fatal mistake.
To challenge them has often caused the complete annihilation of entire air forces.

Zephyr if you moved this segment of the string from the FA board to this board, you really F'd up... Because the Poll this entire conversation is based on is still in the original message over on the FA board.

Its a pretty silly thing to do in that respect...

I seem to recall you were the one most concerned in the past about on-topic discussions. I have moved the thread into the forum where it belongs. The particular poll can be considered decided after its initial results.

Non Topic Discussions as in the spam certain X members of this board used to post... Not posted realted topics associated with the poll of the original post...

However, I wont bitch to much, considering the error(in my opinion) was well meant and in response to my own previous complaints!

http://www.scramble.nl/ir.htm

Scramble doesn't have numbers but according to their map, the FA "Persian Gulf" map only has one real airbase!

thats quite right And i think thats because they are afraid that the americans would attack their airforce if they place them in southern iran. I have been to iran once, in the capital city of tehran. But just in the airport and i saw about 20-30 tomcats parked in front of some hangers. i also saw a f-5 with missiles under its fuselage. The missiles looked like a-10s but wasnt sure and she was armed with at least 6 missiles.
