I just installed all my FA stuff on to another computer, but the Pointer to Cache program I need to use to edit my shapes wont install. I know you are supposed to put them in the C:\Windows\Command File or DOS, but I have neither!!! Im running Windows XP so I don't know whats going on?

First, view the missions in the Toolkit in the Missions --> Mission File menu. Then download the customized Cache.m file from here:

http://farc.3synergy.net/misc/cache.zip

Replace the Cache.m file in your Fighters Anthology\Toolkit\Cache folder with the one you downloaded.

Then, view the mission list in the toolkit again. You should be able to save shape files into the project now without using PTR2CACHE. You can find the files in your Toolkit\Project\Project Name folder.

Read this for more info: http://farc.3synergy.net/tutorials/shapes.php

Yeah this has nothing to do with command line entries or DOS.

when i do that method with out replacing the libtr.sh file in the cache, the .sh files in FATK save as 0kb or basically an empty document, it seems to only work if I use the point to cache tool... but i dont have a c:/windows/command file?

Dude you dont need anything special, it's just a file swap. Like Zeph said FIRST you have to have the TK generate the cashe.m file in the first place. Just open the "Missions" tab at the top and look around then close the TK and go find the TK cache.m file and replace it with the customised one. There is always the chance you got a corrupted one but that's all there is to it.

okay, I have created the cache.m file from the tool kit, then I downloaded that special cache.m file and replaced it, now all the shapes are showing up in the menu, but still..... when I save my .sh file, it remains to be 0kb. I have even re-built the tool kit cache, I have repeated this many times? there is nothing IN the file to hex edit, it just saves an empty file...

okay, i have just downloaded the one from your link and it is now doing the same thing, am I somehow corrupting my cache.m file? I simply unzip directly to the cache file in the tool kit?? I have downloaded other files from other links as well...

grrrrrrr lol unzip it to someplace else like your desktop and THEN drag it to the proper TK folder and see what happens.

I think when you rebuild the FATK CD-ROM cache it resets the missions cache file? So you would have to download the custom cache file after you do that. Like Kaptor says, make sure you see the 142 kb custom cache.m file replace whatever is in your cache folder. I just uploaded, downloaded, replaced with, and verified the custom cache.m on my website, so I know it works.

I've had that empty-file probelm before, too. There doesn't seem to be any "sliver-bullet" solution to it. All you can do is like Zeph and Kap said, just keep re-downloading that cache file and rebuilding the cache until the blasted thing works.

Know what you mean though. I *hate* it when it does that!

The silver bullet is following the steps in order.... you must view the missions list in the TK after building the CD-Rom cache, to create the default cache.m file. Then, replace that with the custom cache.m. Otherwise, the TK will overwrite any custom cache.m you put in the cache folder.
