would it be possible for me to shoot a constant "beam" of small transparent smoke circles from my helicopter to the ground to act as a "spot light" for police or SAR missions? if so, could someone tell me the easiest way to do so?

Gun-smoke-transparent. BUT you will have to have a target to lock on to in order to slew the "light", you could get around that by having the light pointing downward as a start position. Wont work at all for AI friendlies flying the helo as they wont target thier own peeps..

Well there are other ways, but they will likely not work during night when you need them the most. Sorry...
