Hi All:
I've spent the last few weeks since my last announced update working intensely on the mission briefings for the most part. The briefings now sport a greater number of historical notes that are more logically presented and organized among missions. Custom loadouts in missions have also undergone significant revision, esp. for USAF aircraft, which now properly use externally mounted ECM pods. Along the same lines, many aircraft now start missions with pre-depleted fuel states. There are some other, more minor changes worth noting as well:
NAM-MAPS:
- Minor tweaks to a few areas of the maps to accommodate the new tiles introduced in December.
NAM-ELH:
- The F-8E/J Crusader has been separated into different aircraft: the F-8E and the F-8J
- The F-4J Phantom II now carries the AIM-7E, not the later USAF-developed AIM-7E2
- Two new ordnance items added: the GBU-8/B Hobos EOGB & the GBU-11/B Paveway I LGB
- Minor tweaks to some A2A missiles
- Seeker & ECM devices carried by several aircraft have been revamped
- The Storage and POL Tank scenery items now sustain greater damage
AWNVN Missions:
- Dramatically reduced the number of "two carrier" missions (missions in which a/c from multiple carriers fly the same strike mission)
- Ensured that A-1 SANDYs are correctly represented in SAR missions
- Added a new doc: a browseable mission summary in PDF form
- Re-titled a number of missions
- Tweaked a number of mission briefings to ensure formatting consistency
- Overhauled mission briefings for all missions derived from USNF'97 to ensure consistency and better present historical notes
- Overhauled the briefings of all 10 May 1972 missions for sequential consistency
- Moved a large number number of historical notes to briefings of more appropriate missions
- Added a good number of new historical notes to mission briefings
- Added externally-mounted ECM pods to mission custom loadouts of USAF F-105s (Oct. '66 & later) and USAF F-4s (Jan. '67 & later)
- Removed ECM & CM devices from USN aircraft in custom loadouts for missions 1964-1965
- Imposed depleted fuel states on aircraft in missions which start at considerable distance from a base, tanker, or carrier
- Overhauled a number of missions for better playability: Big Iron I (67-0310), Goin' Downtown (67-0811), Going North (65-0329), Walleyes (67-0312), The Dragon Goes Down (72-0513), Furball at Hai Duong (72-0510), Alpha Strike (72-0510), MiGCAP Alert (68-0710), Yen Son Station (65-0720), Shoot 'n Scoot (66-1110)
- Added four new missions, all historically based:
**. Logan's Run (5 July 1972)
F-4Es from Korat escort a strike package of Phantoms hitting an ammo dump near Bac Ninh.
**. Brother's Keeper (19 April 1967)
A lone F-105F CAPs a SAR operation for a downed Weasel crew west of Hanoi.
**. Skyraiders (20 June 1965)
A flight of USN A-1H SANDYs from the Midway flies a RESCAP mission NW of Thanh Hoa.
**. The Pods (8 October 1966)
Thuds from Takhli fly the first strike mission into Route PAck VI using the new QRC-160
ECM pods when they strike the Nguyen Khe POL storage just north of Hanoi.

AWNVN is still on the road to release, though that date will now be in early to mid Febraury. As such, I'm calling this Release Candidate 2 (RC2). When updating, please make sure that you download the new versions of all components (NAM-MAPS, NAM-ELH, AWNVN missions), or some missions may break:
