There's different kinds of "realism". There's the theoretical what if realism and the actual in-service realism. Sims left and right do the latter, but FA is the easiest and probably best opportunity to the do the former. Look at all the interest in "Luft '46" type stuff ala Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe.

Oh sure there is interest, there is also interest in UFOs and statements by what were thought to be reliable individuals that there were little green men walking around area 51!

However I wouldnt be interested in modelling that possiblity in FA either...

Well one of my friends broght up something very insightful about Area 51. His theory is as such. Way back when it was used for "black" stuff but then when it became a hype they moved it elsewhere, someone in a mountain somewhere so the fact was that everyone would think Area 51 so that they would keep going there instead of the "new" site. I personally think that there is stuff there but then again it could be a chirade, after all, we have a lot of midwest heartland just empty out there and all those mountains so.......... it could hold relevance.

the Groom Lake facilities got too popular for thier own good. From what I've heard the hot stuff is seasonally working out of Falcon AFB in Colorado and grrrr Mildendorf? in Alaska. UFOs or not I have NO idea, little green men ? yeah I see em all the time at Wendys lol

Possibly with the rise in computers much less physical testing is required, so concepts and designs can stay in the lab longer, hence fewer sightings of strange things.

Very good thought there Zephyr...

WIth 3D modelling it is indeed true that actual flight testing can be lowered, but then again look at how much the F-22 has hd to go through at Edwards...
